WHO IS GSORD?

Greensboro Roller Derby (GSORD) is a vibrant and dynamic flat track roller derby league. GSORD is dedicated to promoting the sport of roller derby, providing a supportive environment for its skaters and fostering a culture of athleticism, community and inclusiveness.

GSORD was founded on February 3, 2010. From the ground up, a group of strong-willed, dedicated, beautiful humans have turned what was once a dream for many, into a reality.

In July 2012, Greensboro was accepted as a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Apprentice Program and became a full member of the WFTDA in June 2013.

In 2020, GSORD celebrated a decade. At the same time the world changed and many roller derby leagues went under. We were lucky to have a dedicated group of phoenix-like members that rose from the ashes and kept the dream of roller derby alive in the community.

GSORD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. At each of our bouts, we donate a portion of proceeds to a local charity.

GSORD is an entirely volunteer-run organization. We could not do this without the support of the community of Greensboro and the Piedmont Triad, our fans, and our sponsors!

Our Gender Inclusivity Statement

With a diverse community of skaters and fans, Greensboro Roller Derby is dedicated to promoting the sport of roller derby for everyone. GSORD is open and welcoming to all who share our enthusiasm for flat track roller derby - including women-identifying, non-binary, gender expansive and gender non-conforming individuals. Whether you're a seasoned skater or a newcomer to the sport, GSORD has something to offer everyone. Please see the WFTDA Gender Statement for more information.

Covid Safety Policy

Proof of Fully Vaccinated Status is required to join the league as a skater or volunteer. The health and safety of GSORD members is of utmost priority, our league has high risk skaters and skaters with high risk loved ones. Our policies are in place to allow those skaters to still participate in this sport. You will be asked to show proof of vaccination with our registration.

We encourage everyone to wear a mask when indoors. We monitor the current covid community transmission rates both in the state and in the counties our skaters reside and work in.
